To the untrained eye, it appears to be an old piece of plumbing.
This white PVC tube rests under the picnic table at an isolated island campsite in New Hampshire. It has end caps, sits snugly under the table and obviously feels very strange amid the trees, pine needles and old camping furniture.

It contains a flag to signal for help, which campers can use to alert passing boats.
A Very Odd Find While Camping on an Island
At least one person camping in one of the wilderness camps noticed that they were able to removed an end cap on the transmitting PVC pipe. Inside was an orange plastic tube, with a bolt and small carabiner attached.
The orange plug would not pull out so easily, which increased the enigma!
The first instinct would be to think the tubes were remnants from a long-desired repair or perhaps some sort of homemade storage system.
Instead, it is the fallout of things gone wrong that they are there for.
