This is an aide-mémoire it was a small, portable device that was used in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to help people with their daily tasks. It was a rectangular piece of ivory, which could be written on with a pencil and then erased and used again. They were employed to assist an individual recall events such as meetings, tasks or even when to take drugs prior to the development of paper based organizers. Since the slabs had the days of the week written on them it assisted users in keeping track.
