On initial inspection, this ceramic item appears to be a handmade mug that has been attached to a saucer. It includes a hole at the bottom of the mug as well as a spout at the side of the plate. This is not an abstract art piece nor a teapot – this is a microwave bacon cooker mug.

What It Does

This design holds bacon strips that have been placed over the edge of the mug. When you place the bacon in the microwave to cook, the fat drips down from the bacon into the saucer via the hole in the base of the mug. You can then dispose of the fat through the spout in the saucer.

Because of the vertical orientation of the design, there is minimal opportunity for the bacon to soak in its own fat. This will result in crisper and cleaner cooked bacon.

How to Use It

  1. Place your bacon strips over the top of the mug. Hang them over the top of the mug so they do not touch the sides of the mug.
  2. Put a paper towel on top of the bacon to protect against splatters during cooking.
  3. Cook for several minutes depending upon how thick your bacon slices are.
  4. As the bacon cooks, the fat drips through the hole in the base of the mug into the saucer.
  5. Once you have removed the bacon, use the spout to discard the excess fat in the saucer.
  6. You can now enjoy crispy cooked bacon.
