To start with, old parts are different than parts, they’re memories that you can touch and hold onto. Moreover, that’s the beauty of vintage ceramic gas heater panels such as these. They are solid, creamy ceramics with a heart pattern repeated throughout. The browned edges from the heat show they worked for many years. Furthermore, there is a memory associated with finding something like this in a box in an attic or garage after cleaning it out. You’ll recognize the feeling immediately. How did the vintage ceramic gas heater panels work?
In addition to helping control the temperature, older gas space heaters and gas fireplace inserts used ceramic parts to absorb and distribute the heat. Instead of a large, open flame, some older heaters had a gas burner behind a ceramic panel or multiple panels. The ceramic helped to absorb and radiate the heat. In some cases, it would also give off a warm glow to make a room feel cozier.

Why was the heart design important?
