Bathrooms with purple and colorful fixtures were widely used in the mid of the 20th century, mainly in 1950s and 1960s. This trend was in harmony with the overall tendency of using bright and bright shades to make the interior of houses cheerful, contemporary, and stylish.
These rather bright bathrooms were fond of pastel colors, like pink, turquoise, mint green, and lavender. This trend was a shift from the previous decades that had more conservative and practical designs, this was due to the post war optimism and the influences of modernism in design. Bathtubs, sinks, and toilet bowls in these bright colors were the standard in the said period.

This style has also found its name in the commercial world as the “Mid-Century Modern” or simply the “1950s/1960s Retro” when it comes to the trends that defined this period. Colour was not limited to the bathrooms and was also seen in the kitchen and living area thus defining the mid-century look.

The Color Purple in 20th Century Bathroom Fixtures
Purple is a color that always evokes quite some controversy in the sphere of home decoration, which is even more than pink does. This is not very shocking, thus, because pastel lavender bathroom fixtures are not very well documented in history. Still, it was possible to come across lilac, lavender, and light purple sinks, tubs, and toilets in the catalogs from the period of 1927 to 1949. However, there are reader-submitted examples from the 1960s that show that these fixtures did still exist to some extent after the 1940s.
