The unique doors inside bathroom appear to be a type of Dutch door or a variation of them. Dutch doors, characterized by their ability to be opened in two halves (upper and lower), have historically served practical purposes, particularly in homes, barns, and other settings.
The Dutch door design has roots in old times, specifically from the 17th century in the Netherlands, hence the name. This type of door was introduced in America by Dutch settlers and became a staple in farmhouses and cottages.
Historically, the two-part design allowed for practicality in homes, especially those situated in rural areas or farms.
Traditionally, the bottom half of the door could be kept closed to prevent animals or children from wandering in or out, while the top half remained open for ventilation, light, or communication. This design allowed homeowners to keep unwanted guests out of the lower part of the house while still inviting fresh air in or keeping an eye on their children or pets. Dutch doors are also useful in preventing young children from accessing certain rooms without completely shutting them off from adult supervision.
