This Weird Thing Works

As I held the amber colored stick (with a small ball on one end and a rounded nub on the other) and stared at it expecting it to give me a clue – it did not.
Fortunately it wasn’t a complete mystery. It turned out to be a resin foot massage stick. Once you knew what it was, it made sense. And even more importantly, it proved to be ridiculously helpful!

What A Resin Foot Massage Stick Really Is

The resin foot massage stick is a handheld massaging tool that you can roll and push against sore spots – most commonly on your feet. The ball end of the stick provides a focused amount of pressure. Meanwhile, the longer part of the stick is designed for rolling across larger areas such as your arch. The resin stick will provide a smooth and solid feel in your hand. In addition, resin sticks are generally warmer to the touch and less slippery than glass or metal.

How I Use My Resin Foot Massage Stick At Home

When I am tired from standing all day, the first thing I do is sit down. I relax my foot and begin to roll it back and forth on my arch. As I encounter a knot in the arch area, I switch to the rounded end of the stick and apply short, controlled pressure to the area. I try to apply consistent pressure that is firm but not sharp.

Heel Soreness and Point Pressure

When I need to relieve heel soreness or find that there is one specific “spot” on my foot that hurts – I will use the smaller rounded end of the resin foot massage stick. The smaller end of the stick allows me to target the pain without using my thumbs. I will work the stick back and forth very slowly and adjust my angle until the pressure is just right.

Calves, Hands and Tight Shoulders

In addition to using it on my feet, I also use it on my calf muscles after I have been walking a great deal, and on my hands after I have spent a great deal of time typing. I am careful when using the stick on my shoulders to avoid applying too much pressure on any bony prominences. Overall, my resin foot massage stick is my go-to tool for relieving tight areas without having to use my hands.

Why I Like Using Resin

I really like how resin feels under my hand. It is smooth but not cold and it has a sturdy feel that makes it perfect for every day use. I do not worry about breaking it like I would with a glass stick. Additionally, the texture of the resin provides a good amount of grip – making it easier to maneuver over skin with a lubricant applied.

Cleaning and Storage of a Resin Foot Massage Stick

To clean my resin foot massage stick I simply wet it with warm water, apply a mild soap and wipe it off. Then I let it air-dry. If I have used a lotion or oil to help me work with the stick, I will clean it immediately to prevent it from becoming slick or collecting dust. I always store it in a location where I will actually see it and be able to grab it easily (i.e., near the sofa or in a convenient drawer).

Who Will Benefit from a Resin Foot Massage Stick

If you are someone who spends a great deal of time on their feet (standing), walking or if you experience sore feet a resin foot massage stick may benefit you. In addition, the resin foot massage stick may be beneficial to people looking for a simple way to quickly relieve tension without needing to use additional devices, charge anything, or prepare anything.

Why I Continue to Pick Up the Stick

One reason I continue to pick up my resin foot massage stick is because of its immediacy. I can pick it up, use it for a few minutes and my feet will feel better. There is no preparation, no noise and no additional equipment required. What was originally a mysterious object on my table is now one of the few “small comforts” that I actively rotate through.
